Thursday's End

Parents arrive in time to enjoy the sunny afternoon and the sunset. After dinner and s'mores together, the day is done.

Nisswa Historical Village

Girls were thrilled to find the rope to the old school bell replaced and operable. Last week they missed pulling it and ringing the double toll allowed for each visitor.

The bank had not increased its holdings since last week's attempted robbery, so the Granddaughter Gang once again came away empty handed.

Girls caught Pawpaw sleeping on the job and immediately texted mom a photo of the infraction.

Farewell to the museum and village, farewell to the old train caboose across the road, farewell to Babe the Blue Ox too hot to sit on today. See you next year!

A&W

Three heads are not better than one or even two at the jukebox in the Nisswa A&W.

Nisswa Park

Girls have been coming to this playground for years and treat every structure like an old friend they see only one month of the year.

Young Climber

Younger granddaughter attempts to climb any obstacle in her path.

Nisswa Park

Girls always manage to find at least one new friend wherever they go. This time she's five years old and going on fifteen.

Thursday Farmers Market

This morning at the Nisswa market our big purchase was cookies. We are in the mode of eating what we have in the cabin so we have less to pack up when we leave. That means limiting new supplies unless absolutely necessary.

Younger granddaughter is enchanted by the handcrafted jewelry, especially pieces mom would like. She and her sister know enough about the price tags on the back to realize that they will not be buying one of those bracelets today. But admiring and wishing are free.

Wednesday Evening

After swim time, we walked up to the main lodge for burgers on the pub deck. We left through the game room and collected a few more stuffed toys from "the claw." Walking a short distance to the Chocolate Ox gave the girls just enough room for most of their ice cream.

On our way to the parking lot, we came to the shuffleboard courts and agreed that playing a game was a great way to end the evening. The girls had never played, Pawpaw and I were a bit rusty on the rules, and the sunny day was leaving. Nevertheless, we set up the discs and started the fun. Girls picked up the idea quickly, and we made plans to return soon.
