Ship Dinner & Sailing 7/13 Sat.

To have dinner in the Rendezvous dining room, we change to nicer casual and bring our appetites. At 7:30 the ship sails right on time and we enjoy the landscape leaving the dock area.

Ship Lunch & Skagway 7/13 Sat.

Title does not say skip lunch but ship lunch, so we hurry to beat the 2:00pm closing. For speed we choose the Lido buffet so we can eat and then leave the ship to explore Skagway. I initiate my personal "S" lunch menu for our days aboard: sushi, soup, salad, salmon, sweets. Unpacking luggage and exploring the ship can wait.

We stroll into town, meet friends at the visitor center, and take a walking tour with a ranger. It includes main street as well as back streets, and he is quite a storyteller of scandalous historical behaviors. We end up at the Bonanza Bar and mix with the locals.

The Ship! 7/13 Saturday

We made it! Before Kelly says goodby, she distributes a list with contact info and sets up a meeting for us at 5:00 on the last evening of the tour. Alas, we will not see her again.

After a short bus ride from the train station to the docks, we see our ship and go through the embarkation process. We're on and were in!

Our stateroom is nicer than I imagined, the bathroom and balcony bigger than I expected, the closets and storage twice what we need. Views are still magical, but we also watch what's happening at another cruise ship nearby.

Fraser to Skagway (5) 7/13 Sat.

Are we there yet? Yes! At the end of this post! Farewell to the White Pass & Yukon Route that thrilled us, the Lake Johns car that cautiously carried us, and the engines that powered our unforgettable journey.

Fraser to Skagway (4) 7/13 Sat.

Almost to the ship.....but not quite. During this scenic train route through the mountains, we literally went through the mountains with five tunnels. Along the way we crossed numerous bridges and streams. Always the fireweed popped up to support the wildness theme.
