Ketchikan Walk & Eagle 7/15 Monday

Town is crowded but doable, and we create our own walking tour with a map and lots of questions asked of people we meet. And some luck.

Looking for the salmon ladder, a powerful flutter of wings catches my eye; we stumble across a bald eagle handler. Last photo shows them walking away as USA flags salute.

Ketchikan Docking 7/15 Monday

Our ship pulls into Ketchikan for the whole day. We take advantage of the morning to sleep later than usual and have room service deliver breakfast. Watching the ship ease into place and set up for disembarking provides interesting entertainment.

We are not the only ship here; in fact this proves to be a busy harbor with a record five cruise ships today. The one in the top photo is not ours but one of the other four.

Dinner 7/14 Sunday

After spending most of the day watching Glacier Bay, we dress up for dinner on this night designated for formal wear. We have reservations at the Rendezvous dining room. Both of us settle on their version of surf 'n' turf, lobster and filet. My empty appetizer plate held smoked salmon, scallops, and caviar with all the accompaniments and garnishes. His dessert is poached pear, mine an orange soufflé. All yummy!

After dinner we walk to ship areas not previously explored and find two young women performing on the piano and violin. We sit there for a while to listen before joining friends in their stateroom for wine to end the evening.
