This evening we drive to middle school for the choir concert for grades seven and eight. Our fifth grader sings in a select group of students from grades 5-8, and they perform two songs between the other two choirs.
After their performance, friends pose for photos, including younger sister and the school principal.
At home we share some Texas fudge to celebrate being together.

School Day 5/15 Thursday
Before family leaves for school and work, Mom helps with backpacks and granddaughters pose for my camera. Today husband and I shop and prepare dinner. I decide on stuffed chicken breasts wrapped with bacon, smashed golden potatoes, and sautéed yellow squash. After school we pick up younger and have dinner for all.
Softball 5/14 Wednesday
From the airport we take a taxi to the house and quickly jump into the older granddaughter's evening activity, a double-header 30 minutes away. She warms up, bats second in the lineup, and plays second base. Family fans dress warmly against the chill, and younger granddaughter becomes a yellow-blanketed lump in the grass. In the dugout, father and daughter evaluate the game's progress. Our Warriors team wins both games with scores of 13-8 and 11-6. Woohoo!
