Friday 22020401 Flavors of Paris (6 photos)

The name of this tour misled us to expect limited tastes of "flavors"; truth is we experienced more than we could consume in our group of six. After busing to a popular foodie area, group first visited the oldest church in continuous use. Then we walked from shop to shop for macarons, chocolates, charcuterie, breads, cheeses, wines, pastries, and espresso. Only a few photos due to rain and much time spent managing gear and clothing but a fun and filling afternoon.

Back on the ship, Jim and I watched from the lounge as our ship pulled away from the dock and down the Seine.

Friday 20220401 Bus in Paris (6 photos)

(Some of my dates went goofy so I need to fix them eventually. Hope readers can can figure out corrections.)

Today is a panoramic tour of Paris by bus (Arc, Concorde, Winston Churchill, etc.) but includes a walk in snowy rain almost exactly where Jim and I walked by ourselves earlier in the week (no repeat of those photos of Hotel de Ville, Norte Dame, Shakespeare & Co., etc.). We grouped in a lovely pocket park next to S. & Co. and used free time for hot drinks inside warm buildings. Jim and I returned to the same place where we had beers previously, but hot coffee today. I used a small packet to add lavender flavor to my coffee, very nice adjustment.

Friday 22920401 No April fool (5 photos)

In case you haven't heard, Paris had snow today, often, not to accumulate but frequently and floating. After breakfast, we bundled up and boarded buses for tour around Paris.

Thursday 20220331 Evening (6photos)

Mandatory safety drill! Dinner is Caesar salad, rib eye, and crème brûlée for Dad, escargot, sea bass, and crème brûlée for me. View of Eiffel from ship!

Thursday 20220331 Finishing the walk (6 photos)

From the dock area, we walk up to a area of shopping and cafes. Tour ends, and we stay longer on our own. Lafayette has a colorful domed rotunda with a security guard reminding me that photos are forbidden. Famous Laduree tempts Dad with macarons. Back at the ship, Viking's daily bulletin waits for us.

Thursday 20119331 Lunch on ship & afternoon walk (6 photos)

Lunch is our first meal on ship: consommé and Asian tuna salad for me, roast beef sandwich and chocolate mousse for Dad. At 3pm we meet with a small group to explore the area around the dock.

Thursday 20220331 Morning (7 photos)

Time to embark for cruise this morning but first another breakfast at the Hyatt, all included! Driving to dock, once again we pass the Eiffel and the Arc. On the ship, a worker takes us to our room, shows features, and explains the COVID tests required each morning. After luggage is delivered, we head for lunch.

Wednesday 20220330 Night at Paradis Latin Cabaret (6 photos)

We signed up for this excursion, somewhat hesitantly, so one and done. Champagne, beef Wellington dinner, and wine was much better than expected.

Wednesday 22020330 Afternoon with Monet (6 photos)

This afternoon we visit the Monet Museum, a short taxi ride or a thirty minute walk. Taxi! Wonderful collection of his works, small and huge, as well as other impressionists, including women. From there we walk to a taxi line across a large park with flowers, children, and dogs, everyone taking advantage of an afternoon without rain.
