This morning we celebrate Mother's Day with brunch at a French Restaurant downtown. As we wait to be seated, granddaughters notice a juice machine that squeezes oranges and are later invited to feed it.
Everything on the menu sounds delicious so we order beverages and stall for time. The flowers are behind my drink, not in my drink as the photo suggests. We stall more by ordering French doughnuts to share; they come filled with lemon curd and disappear too fast for my camera, hence the empty plate.
Daughter orders croque madame, one granddaughter eggs benedict, other French toast, Pawpaw American breakfast, and s-i-l and I oeufs en cocotte. Surprisingly, i get photos before anyone takes a bite.
My eggs are poached and placed atop creamy leeks and mushrooms in a cute little covered metal pot that keeps everything warm. Girls leaning against their mom after brunch show how all of us felt, happily full and satisfied.
This restaurant is on the street level of a graceful old building, and I photo the elevators, an interior window, and the exterior that doesn't quite show the outdoor patio. Shops small and interesting are in the area, but, thankfully or not, they're closed today.
