Dinner 7/5 Friday

The consensus of everyone we ask is that Humpy's is the place to go. Their specialty is seafood, and since we intend to have salmon, we take the advice given.

Even though it's about 4:00 when we enter, this place is busy, both the dining side and the bar side. When we see a table empty, we scurry to claim it, a horseshoe shaped booth in a secluded domed alcove. To avoid claustrophobia and to view other tables, we sit on the ends.

After learning that the dinner menu begins at 5:00, and not wanting to eat from the bar menu, we resign ourselves to the fact that we must imbibe an adult beverage or two while waiting. Local brews having names beginning with Alaskan, Denali, and Midnight Sun win our favor. Oh, well!

I order clam chowder and follow it with a planked salmon under a lemony glaze, delicious choices for first or any day in Alaska. (Chowder photo shows empty cup, a frequent occurrence because I forget to use my camera when food first arrives.)

Eventually the time change hits us, and we're ready for sleep. In our room, we deliberately pull the drapes tightly together to block out the sunlight still bright at bedtime.
