Luggage out for picking up by 6:00am, out of room and downstairs ready to board at 7:15, standard directions from tour directors. Ours is named Kelly, and she lives in Fairbanks where she is a bartender during the winter season.
Our route takes us through Wasilla, but we couldn't see Russia from there.
The tiny photo shows a structure called the Pagoda House; it almost looks like just another tree because it was far away and I had to zoom. Anyway, this wealthy guy built a home with a great mountain view. As the trees grew, they began to obstruct that view. He started the Pagoda House and added to the top as trees grew taller, and the center has a spiral staircase. Because of this building, a law was passed to control height of structures, but his still stands.
The photo with a brown dot in the center is what a moose looks like from our train. We see several, even cows with calfs, Another sighting is a bald eagle perched near the top of a tree, waiting for his lunch to step out into the railway clearing.
Water reflecting trees makes good pictures, and bodies of water always attract me. A few times we see houses dotting lake shores.
The train makes steady progress, often slowing for curves and incline but never stopping for passengers because this train is full of passengers for Denali.
