First picture this post is a welcome to the park that didn't go in earlier posts. Our bus driver makespreservation of fragile tundra an issue for anyone planning to hike: spread out and never follow in same footsteps. At the Quonset tent bookstore deep in the park, I see a book about the Fannie portrayed in Cabin Nite who also served our table.
Finally, we spot a Dall sheep high in some cliffs. Just as we are about to drive away, up comes a second one from down and to the right. Quite a thrill!
As we continue our way out of the park, we see more mountains and caribou and rivers. The ponds looking so small in the photos are actually large holes dug out by glacier movement, and over time ice melted to fill them.
The tour ends, we unload at the lobby, and we wonder if we will return someday to make another attempt at viewing the elusive Denali.
